Linux NoMachine/VNC session doesn’t accept Keyboard and Mouse input

Sometimes it happens if your Linux sessions "X windows manager" goes wrong by accidently key combination or modification of ~/.kde or ~/. gnome profile configuration.

We can reset/replace of all input for a problematic session by below command;

# metacity --replace &

What you need to do?
  1. Login to machine by ssh/rsh or Telnet by same user id.
  2. Set the DISPLAY environment of problematic session
                # setenv DISPLAY <session id>

     3. Run command "metacity --replace &".

Example:
For csh shell:
user@localhost:~> setenv DISPLAY localhost:1
user@localhost:~> metacity --replace &

For bash shell:
user@localhost:~> export DISPLAY=localhost:1
user@localhost:~> metacity --replace &

Now Keyboard and Mouse should work in that session.

  1. Benefits of Using a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse A job work desk that has lots of clutter and also loose wires can be harmful, as well as very annoying. You can easily get perplexed with all the cables and also have troubles determining each of the device ports. However many thanks to technology, we currently have Wireless Keyboard and Mouse which tackle this issue. The cordless keyboard in fact looks like the same as a basic keyboard.
